TERESA MARTIN

Teresa Martin has been named the 2009-2010 District Teacher of the Year for Orangeburg Consolidated School District Four.

An educator for six and one-half years, Mrs. Martin has been a member of the Carver-Edisto Middle School family for the past five years.  As a constituent of the sixth grade faculty , she serves the school in many other areas as well.  A certified mentor for new teachers, Mrs. Martin also coaches the B-team Cheerleaders, presides as her grade level's Team Leader, sponsors the Scrabble Club, and serves on the Hospitality Committee, as well as PBIS team.

Furthermore, Mrs. Martin's role as an educator is to be the facilitator of learning in an environment that is both positive and enriching.  Because children thrive on rewards for positive behavior and academic achievement, she challenges all of her students to set realistic goals while she monitors all of their successes.

Mrs. Martin attributes her hard work and dedication to her parents as they were instrumental in teaching her the value of completing all tasks no matter how large or how small.  She holds this lesson very dear to her as she accomplishes her daily responsibilities.

Teresa Martin is what educators call a "Natural Born Teacher".  Whether she is in the classroom assisting struggling students to achieve academically, at her church facilitating children to flourish spiritually, or in a work session assisting peers to expand their knowledge professionally, Mrs. Martin consistently epitomizes the true definition of TEACHER!
